Unsung Hero: Professor Muhammad Masood’s Quest for Education and Empowerment

In a world where education is often taken for granted, there are individuals who dedicate their lives to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances, has access to quality education. Professor Muhammad Masood, a renowned educator and social worker, is one such individual who has been tirelessly working for the past 30 years to educate and empower illiterate children, as well as marginalized communities, including transgenders.

As the former Principal of Staff Training College, Faisalabad, and current Executive Director of System Foundation Pakistan, Professor Masood has been instrumental in shaping the lives of over 16,000 students who have passed out from his institution and cleared their matriculation examination. His organization, System Foundation, has been providing free education and vocational training to underprivileged children, enabling them to earn a living and break the cycle of poverty.

In a bid to stay relevant in the digital age, Professor Masood has recently introduced online earning courses, which have been integrated with intermediate-level education. Moreover, he plans to launch graduation programs in computer science in collaboration with the Virtual University of Pakistan. This move is expected to open up new avenues for students, enabling them to compete in the global job market.

What sets Professor Masood apart from other educators is his commitment to educating and training marginalized communities, including transgenders. In a society where transgenders often face discrimination and exclusion, Professor Masood’s efforts to provide them with education and vocational training are truly commendable.

Despite his remarkable achievements, Professor Masood has chosen to work silently, without seeking to draw attention to himself. However, his selfless dedication to the cause of education and empowerment deserves recognition and admiration from civil society, the government, and other stakeholders.

As we salute Professor Masood’s efforts, we are reminded of the power of education to transform lives and societies. His story serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring us to work towards creating a more inclusive and equitable society, where everyone has access to quality education and opportunities to thrive.
